WHAT IS FUNGAL NAIL?
Fungal nail infections (onychomycosis) are widespread and more likely to impact us the older we get on. The fungus can affect some or all of the nail and gradually worsen over time, becoming thicker with a yellow and brown colour. The presence of fungus visually alters the appearance of the toenail, becoming thicker with a brownish discolouration.
Traditional treatments usually involve lacquers applied directly to the nail. While results can vary, it is notoriously difficult to treat with this method once the infection has established. An alternative option is to take oral medication, presenting the risk of side effects.
